About

Protect who you love this flu season

Annual vaccination is an important measure to prevent influenza and its complications. Help protect yourself, your family and community with an appointment at your local Star Discount Chemist flu clinic.

Choose your convenient, local pharmacy. All vaccinations are administered by a trusted health professional in a private room.

We can accommodate your busy schedule, with many of our pharmacies operating seven days or open late. To avoid disappointment, we recommend making a quick booking online for your chosen timeslot and location. Some of our pharmacies do offer walk-in appointments.

We'll kindly ask you to remain onsite for 15 minutes following your appointment. Ask us about your eligibility for a free* vaccine.

Please speak to your pharmacist to find out more.

The flu vaccine:

  • Can be administered at your local pharmacy from 6 months of age in Queensland and South Australia, from 2 years of age in New South Wales, and from 5 years of age in Western Australia and Victoria.
  • Is recommended for all people aged 6 months and over to receive an influenza vaccination each year.
  • Helps protect everyone, especially the most vulnerable; young babies and children, the elderly, pregnant women and people with certain medical conditions.

For residents of Queensland, the 2026 Free Influenza Vaccination Program will commence 1st March 2026 for those not eligible under the NIPVIP (subject to stock availability). All Queensland residents over the age of 6 months are eligible for a free flu vaccination under this program until 30th September 2026. A nasal influenza spray for children aged 2–17 years of age inclusive is free. Influenza vaccines are free to high-risk groups identified in accordance with the NIPVIP Schedule.

The cost of flu vaccination at a participating Star Discount Chemist or Star Chemist store is $24.99.*

*Influenza vaccines are free to high-risk groups identified in accordance with the NIPVIP Schedule — fees may apply if not eligible. Speak to your pharmacist for more information. We may be required to collect and provide your personal information to a third party for the purpose of vaccine administration in accordance with Australian regulations and our privacy policy, which can be found here. Learn more about flu vaccinations

To deliver this service safely to our customers we have implemented the following measures at our flu clinics:

If you are unwell and have any symptoms including fever, sore throat, cough or shortness of breath please do not present at our Pharmacy for your flu vaccination. Please call the pharmacy to cancel and rebook for another time when you are well.

We encourage all staff and customers to practise good hand hygiene and cough etiquette at all times. All flu clinics will have access to hand sanitiser for use by the immuniser between each vaccination and will be made available for customer use.

You will be required to remain in the pharmacy for 15 minutes post vaccination to be monitored. The person who gave you the vaccine has been trained to respond to immediate reactions.

Vaccinations are subject to Pharmacist and vaccine availability, age restrictions apply.

Flu Vaccination FAQs

Why should I get the influenza vaccine?

Annual vaccination offers effective protection against influenza. While it does not offer 100% protection, vaccination does decrease your chance of getting influenza and also reduces the severity of the symptoms if you do catch the virus. Getting vaccinated also protects those around you, including pregnant women, babies and young children, older people and people with certain chronic health conditions.1,2)

Important things to remember this year with the Flu and COVID-19 vaccine

The flu shot does not protect against COVID‐19:
All COVID-19 vaccines can be co-administered (given on the same day) with an influenza vaccine. Studies show that co-administration of COVID-19 and influenza vaccines is safe and produces a good immune response.

What if my local store does not have online bookings?
